Social Work

The Faculty of Social Work would normally be reviewed this year per the Academic Unit Review Policy.

With the concurrence of the Council Committee on Academic Mission, which oversees Academic Unit Reviews, the normal Academic Unit Review will be based on the materials and outcomes of the Faculty of Social Work's reaccreditation process, which covers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Social Work.

The reaccreditation will be carried out by a team designated by the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE-ACFTS). Details of their procedures are available here.

Update October 2020:

In January 2020, the CASWE Commission on Accreditation granted the University of Regina (UR), Faculty of Social Work (FSW) an eight-year accreditation for both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Masters of Social Work (MSW) programs. The granting of Re-Accreditation with no conditions indicates that the program has met all accreditation standards.

The process of accreditation included a submission of a self-study report and site visit from CASWE commissioners. On April 1, 2019, the UR, Faculty of Social Work submitted a self-study report as part of the accreditation review for both their BSW and MSW programs.

On November 14, 15 and 16, 2019, CASWE commissioners conducted a reaccreditation site visit at the FSW at the UR in Regina, Saskatoon and Print Albert (remotely). Dr. Grant Charles completed a site visit in Whitehorse at the affiliated program at Yukon University on November 23 and 24, 2019.
